". . . ARGUABLY TORONTO'S MOST ECCENTRIC AND INTERESTING FILM FESTIVAL." - TORONTO LIFE MAGAZINE

The Images Festival is the largest festival in Canada for independent media, showcasing international excellence and innovation both on and off the screen. Many of the world’s most influential and challenging artists show their work at Images. From Super-8 and hand-tinted celluloid to DV, performance and interactive media, the Images Festival goes out of its way and over the edge to present Toronto with an annual extravaganza of worldwide image making.

"... RIGHT-BRAINED, UNDERGROUND, NON-LINEAR AND DEFINITELY NOT HOLLYWOOD." - TAKE ONE

The Images Festival was established in 1987, integrating film and video from its inception, and later expanding to include installations, performances and new media.

Each year the Images Festival presents approximately 200 films, videos and media artworks. Emphasizing Toronto, Canadian and World premieres, Images offers Toronto audiences a unique opportunity to see new work that will not show elsewhere. “NOT coming soon to a theatre near you” has become the motto of this festival of independents. Images is proud to honour the talented artists that show their work at our festival, and we annually present a number of awards with the support of committed sponsors such as the National Film Board of Canada, Steam Whistle and NOW Magazine.
