becoming
Leslie Peters | Canada | 2004 | video & sound installation
becoming is a multiple projection and audio installation
that uses landscapes shot at dusk and dawn to both express and evoke
the visceral qualities of grief, fear, terror and transformation.
In this ongoing examination of barren landscapes, Leslie Peters
creates a holistic environment into which viewers can insert themselves,
both emotionally and physically. The landscapes in becoming are
sites of regeneration, contemplation and emotional release.
Toronto-based artist Leslie Peters has been actively working in
video, multi-channel installation, curating exhibitions and coordinating
cultural events since 1997. Her video works have shown internationally
and throughout North America.
Leslie Peters is the Images Festival’s
Canadian Spotlight Artist
