Untitled
Andrew Fransblow | Canada | 2003 | video installation
A video diptych that finely balances itself between still photography
and video and includes painterly cinemascope images with ambient
soudtracks.
Collected at various locations and various points in time, two
sets of video, sound and photographic fragments have been collaged
into a series of striking loops informed by surrealist collage.
The interplay of numerous and distant realities presented in Untitled
are an attempt to artificially provoke what Walter Benjamin understood
as a dialectical image and what Max Ernst described as a flash of
poetry.
Andrew Fransblow was born and raised in Vancouver and currently
lives in Montréal where he is pursuing an MA in Media Studies
at Concordia University. Untitled premiered at “Lost
in Hollywood” at the Bartlett Performance and Exhibition
Centre in Vancouver.
