Images Off-Screen Installation

This year Images takes you Off-Screen to accommodate the various moving image surfaces which include media art installations, web-based projects, performances and artists’ talks.

This year many of the installation and new media projects investigate time, duration, stasis, urban landscapes, travel and our lived environments. We invite you to travel the city and intersect with these spaces to experience media art off-screen. There are also a number of engaging web-based projects that we’ve gathered from our call for submissions and from traversing the web, in addition to the web.art exhibition <PAUSE>, presented with MobileGaze.com.

We are pleased to be collaborating with the following venue partners in 2004:
A Space, Art Gallery of Ontario, Gallery 44, Gallery TPW, InterAccess, Katharine Mulherin Contemporary Art Projects, Paul Petro Contemporary Art, Prefix Institute of Contemporary Art, Trinity Square Video, Vtape, VMAC, Women’s Art Resource Centre and Wynick/Tuck Gallery.

The installations in the 2004 Off-Screen exhibition were juried by Natalie De Vito, Scott McLeod and Christy Thompson. The New Media section was juried by Caitlin Fisher. The selection committee included Scott Berry and Deirdre Logue. Gallery curators include Scott McLeod (Prefix ICA), Ben Portis (AGO), Paul Petro (Paul Petro Contemporary Art), Day Millman (TSV) and the A Space programming committee. Many thanks to all who generously gave their time, expertise and patience to realize this exhibition.
