Program Overview

FILM & VIDEO

Each year Images screens more than 100 short and feature-length films and videos from around the world, as part of our International Competition Program and in individual specially curated programs.

LIVE IMAGES

This year’s Live Images series includes two nights of live soundtracks, a week-long installation/performance at InterAccess an evening of complex film projector performances, low-tech “manual animation” live archival mixing.

IMAGES OFF-SCREEN

This year Images presents 16 installations at 13 venues, the <PAUSE> web.net exhibition in collaboration with MobileGaze.com and ten web-based projects curated by Caitlin Fisher.

CANADIAN ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: LESLIE PETERS

Toronto’s video artist Leslie Peters has been building a subtle and powerful body of work since she appeared on the scene in the late 90s. Images is proud to present a selected retrospective of her work in a screening and concurrent installation.

STRUCTURE & DRIFT

This new series extends the ideas introduced in the 2003 “Urban Space, Media & Technology” symposium, investigating human relationships with our natural and constructed environments. This year’s program includes two unusual documentaries and four gallery installations.

TALKS & PANELS

Included are a talk on the relationship between the US military and the video game industry, a discussion about the state of video art in the Arab world and a five-person panel taking on the subject of technology in performance art practice.
