Welcome Interim Artistic Director Kate MacKay
The Images Festival is pleased to announce Kate MacKay is our Interim Artistic Director for the 2013 festival year! She moves from her Programmer position where she has been a key member of our programming team for the previous two editions into this new role while Artistic Director Pablo de Ocampo takes parental leave. Kate has also programmed for the Free Screen at the Cinematheque where she was a projectionist for over 20 years (and has an upcoming program of Chick Strand films in their First People's Series this Wednesday July 11 (*see #6 below!) in addition to many other programming projects including the series Early Monthly Segments (*see #7 below!).
Images staff are keeping busy this spring and summer visiting a variety of festivals and events, near and far. Interim AD Kate MacKay recently projected new 16mm prints from the gorgeous ENIAIOS cycle by Gregory J. Markopoulos in Lyssaria, Greece. While in Europe, Kate also visited the Manifesta and Documenta art festivals in Genk, Belgium and Kassel, Germany respectively. Director Scott Miller Berry recently returned from the national Independent Media Arts Alliance Summit at the Banff Centre in Alberta in addition to attending a panel on video art preservation in Ottawa at SAW Video that was a part of the ART + LAW Conference. Both Kate and Scott represented Images at the Media City Film Festival in Windsor last month where we co-presented an international shorts program.
