Images Across Canada: Our films go west!
The Images Festival is excited to present our first-ever cross-Canada tour! We are thrilled to celebrate our 25th anniversary by sharing our curated short film and video programs with new audiences in every single province and territory across this great country. Special thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts for providing generous support for this project.
As a festival that is dedicated to supporting artists working with moving images in non-commercial and non-traditional ways, we are delighted to be working with like-minded organizations and individuals across Canada. Through tours such as these, Images is able to bring together artists, critics and film lovers to meet, share, network and exchange ideas and resources. In recent years we have been prioritizing touring as part of our year-round programming, taking independent works to cities across the globe, including six countries in Asia in 2010. Images Across Canada is our largest touring program to date and will feature five curated programs, four of which were featured at our recent 25th Images Festival in April 2012, as well as our 2011 program of avant-garde
films for children, Radical Recess.
Part I of Images Across Canada takes our films out west to the Prairies and the Western Arctic, starting July 26 in Regina with the Saskatchewan Filmpool Co-operative and continuing July 28 in Yellowknife with WAMP (Western Arctic Moving Pictures), August 2-4th in Winnipeg with the Winnipeg Film Group and August 6-7th in Edmonton with the Metro Cinema Society.
You can find more about the individual film programs and screening info on our event calendar.
